A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a platform that captures, stores, checks, integrates, manipulates, analyzes and displays data related to a position on the Earth's surface. GIS is often used to create maps, but can also be used to provide interactive map information on the web or mobile device.
To discover what the City of Sacramento provides, visit the Open Data Portal. Here you will discover and find map layers, view the layers on an interactive web platform, use directly with other applications through web services, or download in a variety of common formats.
In addition to the Open Data Portal, there is a collection of ready-to-print maps on the city's Map Gallery. It includes maps of Council Districts, Neighborhoods, Historic Districts, Parks, and Land-use maps.
