We will begin accepting healthy stray dogs by APPOINTMENT ONLY to keep our staff and community members safe. A mask will be worn by all community members.

Every Wednesday from
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Held in the shelter's parking lot
At 2127 Front Street

Please remain in your vehicle
Food will be distributed
Via a drive-thru line

Wearing a mask is required
Please maintain social distancing

 

FREE MICROCHIP VOUCHER

If you receive a voucher from the purchase of TNT fireworks, it can be redeemed at the Front Street Animal Shelter between June 28 - July 15 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm. You must be wearing a mask when you arrive.

Dog July 4 Pet Preparedness

The Front Street Animal Shelter has developed innovative, new practices to continue offering services to people and pets in the Sacramento community, practice that will be put to the test during the Fourth of July holiday.

The weeks surrounding the Fourth of July are some of the busiest for shelers nationwide, which see a 30% increase in lost pets between July 4-6, said Phillip Zimmerman, manager of the Front Street Animal Shelter.

Phillip Zimmerman recently spoke with City Express to discuss July 4th pet safety as well as changes in shelter operations in response to COVID-19.
